Work experience week

Work experience week

I had the pleasure of working with a young lady for work experience this week this is what we got up to!

Monday was a very busy day with orders and we had 23 packages to get ready for the post, so we made, beaded and packaged for most of the day.

Tuesday:

Close-up of a person using a turquoise hand tool to place small clear rhinestones onto a wooden jewelry box, with a green towel on a desk and a tray of loose rhinestones nearby.
Trying stamping
A small silver heart-shaped charm engraved with the letter 'N' is held between two fingers to show its size. The background is a textured light blue surface with a partial beige circular object visible on the right.
Close-up of hands beading a turquoise blue cord with small round beads on a green felt surface, with a pile of matching beads and a clasp nearby.

We designed a bracelet as a personal project to take home, testing out letter stamping and engraving techniques to use in the final piece. When asked what method the lady preferred, she decided on engraving, learnt the software and safety tips with the Engraver.

We made a sample piece for size and finishing skills.

Using the engraver:

Close-up of a metallic gold or brass mechanical component with screws, a small knob, and a vented panel inside a larger device.

Wednesday, we made 2 bracelets from start to finish as part of the personal project. The bracelets were for the lady and her mum, they were then gift wrapped ready for gifting to Mum.

The final pieces:

Two silver beaded bracelets with turquoise and blue beads, featuring heart charms engraved with the letters 'S' and 'M', displayed on a textured beige fabric background.

Thursday & Friday, we started on 2 new projects for 2 new collections, with cute or meaningful quotes and wish bracelets for sentimental meanings.

Making the quote on the discs for the keyrings:

Side project, engrave the cat using line drawings
It works!
Other side:

We did a complete circle from research to the finished pieces, including costings, pricing, ordering, making, card design on Canva, photos, listing on the website, marketing, and social media posts.

We also experimented with some designs and different metals to see the finish on them, and finished 9 ready to post quote keychains using the engraver.

Lastly we designed and made some wish bracelets.

4 of these sold within a few hours after the post on Social media

My work experience lady has been helping with orders all week when we were busy, replenishing, cutting paper, making boxes, customer service, beading and packaging.

It has been a fun week of playing with designs and machines I would not normally do. It has also been very rewarding and I think the lady had a good time with the tasks we did.
